Out of the "7 Habits of a Highly Effective Person" created and written by Stephen R. Covey the first habit of being proactive was the one that was most meaningful to me. In the summary article of Covey's book; the main idea of the first habit of "Be Proactive" is, "we can choose our own response to any signals or information we receive. We have the ability to influence our own actions. Therefore, being proactive means to actively choose what our response will be in any situation rather than to react blindly." I agree that we are in control of our responses to a situation and we have a choice on how we react to them. It is very important for individuals to know that they are in control of themselves. This is hard because it means you need to be aware of how you will react in a situation that could make you upset, or mad. Being able to control your reactions will help in your personal and business life because you will think before you act or speak.  Therefore things can be calmly dealt with and there will be no regrets when it comes to your actions or reactions.
Stephen R. Covey 7 Habits will help fill my life with passion and purpose as I seek to achieve both private and public victories because with the 7 habits building on each other you can accomplish set goals and feel confident along your journey of mastery. As you work on yourself and have your private victories within the "proactive, begin with the end in mind, and put the first things first" habits, you will see yourself grown and change for the better. Once you have improved yourself then you can move on to the public victories where you help others be effective and win.  The next three habits are geared for public victories. They are "think win-win, seek to understand...then be understood, and synergy." I really like how Covey suggests that you need to work on yourself first and then help other be successful with you.  In conclusion these habits will help fill my life with passion and purpose because all my decisions will be guided and structured. With these habits you can feel confident and proud of yourself which will then bleed into whatever life or business endeavors you pursue.
